Vamos dar início a um novo Ciclo de Palestras mensais, com o tema Tecnologias Quânticas. O primeiro evento realiza-se no dia 14 de outubro de 2024 (segunda-feira) às 18h00, com título "Quantum communication: from quantum foundations to quantum technology", por Emmanuel Zambrini (IST, Lisboa).

In this lecture, we will introduce two ubiquitous scenarios in quantum information: the Bell and the prepare-and-measure scenarios. These two scenarios are at the heart of all quantum technologies. We will illustrate this by explaining how these two scenarios lead to advantages in telecommunications, regarding both efficiency and security.
Sobre o palestrante:
Emmanuel Zambrini Cruzeiro is a physicist specialized in quantum information science. He did his Ph.D. in the University of Geneva, where he developed optical quantum memories for long distance quantum communication and other basic components for quantum communication. Emmanuel's activities also include research in quantum foundations, namely Bell nonlocality. After a few postdocs in Switzerland and Belgium, Emmanuel became a researcher in Instituto de Telecomunicações (Lisboa), where he now coordinates the Quantum Photonics Laboratory.
