A Associação RUAS (Recriar a Universidade, Alta e Sofia) foi constituida, envolvendo, como fundadores, a Universidade de Coimbra, a Câmara Municipal de Coimbra, a Direção Regional da Cultura do Centro e a Coimbra Viva (Sociedade de Reabilitação Urbana).
A Associação RUAS é dirigida por uma Presidência (exercida rotativamente pela Universidade de Coimbra e pela Câmara Municipal de Coimbra) e por um Conselho Diretivo (presidido rotativamente pela Câmara Municipal de Coimbra e pela Universidade de Coimbra). A associação tem as seguintes finalidades: | | The RUAS Association
(Recreate University – Alta and Sofia) was constituted, gathering, as
founders, the University of Coimbra (UC), the Municipality of Coimbra, the
Regional Office of the State Secretary of Culture and the SRU Coimbra Viva (Public Company for Urban Rehabilitation).
RUAS is headed by a Presidency (rotated between the University of Coimbra and
the Municipality of Coimbra) and an Executive Board (chaired in turns by the
Municipality of Coimbra and the University of Coimbra).
RUAS aims to: |
- Salvaguardar, promover e
gerir as áreas candidatas e de proteção, definidas pela candidatura da
Universidade de Coimbra a integrar a Lista de Bens de Património da
Humanidade da UNESCO;
- Salvaguardar,
promover e gerir o território afeto ao Bem designado por Universidade de
Coimbra – Alta e Sofia, nos termos da classificação de Património
Mundial atribuída pela UNESCO;
- Promover,
apoiar e dinamizar iniciativas no âmbito da atividade científica,
cultural e social, tendo em vista a preservação e a beneficiação do
património afeto;
- Disponibilizar aos associados e demais interessados informação atualizada sobre linhas de financiamento para projetos;
- Representar o Bem classificado nas instituições nacionais e internacionais.

and manage the nominated property and buffer zone, defined in the nomination of
the University of Coimbra for UNESCO World Heritage list;
- Safeguard, promote
and manage the territory allocated to the Site designated by “University of
Coimbra – Alta and Sofia” under the World Heritage classification as may be assigned
by UNESCO;
- Promote, support
and stimulate initiatives in scientific, cultural and social activities, allowing
the preservation and improvement of the allocated heritage;
- Make available to
members and other stakeholders updated information on funding for projects;
- Represent the
classified site in national and international institutions.
