Apresentação

Objetivo temático: The GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach fits in the scope of higher education. It proposes a pedagogical model for teaching the Traditional Sports Game (TSG) in the context of Physical Education and sport, given its formative potential to allow future professionals to play the role of transmitters of the traditional ludic heritage. It brings together partners from higher education and associations that safeguard the TSG.

Área Científica: Inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport

Síntese do Projeto: This project proposes the formation of cooperation partnerships in higher education, in the field of sport, for educational and training purposes and to promote social inclusion and cultural diversity. According to the European Commission (2021), under Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, the European Union aims to increase participation in sport and health-enhancing physical activity in order to promote an active and environmentallyfriendly lifestyle, social cohesion and active citizenship. The same document mentions that one in three sport projects have addressed issues related to social inclusion. On the other hand, the approach presented here, of using TSG as a tool to promote social inclusion and cultural diversity, is in line with the aim of the new EU Work Plan for Sport. Although "contained" within the idea of sport, and similar to it in terms of the presence of a system of rules, TSG differs from sport in other very striking features, which facilitate the process of social inclusion and consideration of cultural diversity, such as changing roles, non-elimination and exchange of players, varied interaction and team changes, for example. Therefore, the game promotes social transformation through valuing the person, understanding diversity, and potentially increasing the number of players and others involved, as not all TSG are based on complex technical elements or physiological performance. By transporting the SDG 2030 to the TSG plan we were able to perceive clear interfaces to SDG3 Health and Wellbeing ("ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages."), SDG4 Quality Education ("ensure inclusive, and equitable and quality education, and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all."), and SDG5 Gender Equality ("achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls"). The interfaces facilitated by the praxis of the traditional game, based on its internal and external logics (Parlebas, 2001), in which reside the triggers for the achievement of the related SDGs also provide, by characteristic of its very survival, the formation of communities and sustainable partnerships for networking (schools, colleges, groups, associations, federations, among other types of associativities). Therefore, the relevance of this project lies in the search to impact the target populations involved, starting with university students in their present and future professional lives and as citizens, through the use of TSG in all its adaptive capacity and its dissemination as a means of promoting social inclusion and cultural diversity. Consequently, it will provide the opportunity for increased participation in sport and the personal, social, cultural and environmental gains that may result.
