Welcome Centre for Visiting Researchers

The Welcome Centre for Visiting Researchers is a service of the International Relations Unit, primarily aimed at supporting researchers who come to the University of Coimbra for a scientific research period, under the guidance of a supervisor from this institution.

Researchers registered with the Welcome Centre for Visiting Researchers gain access to various services and relevant information to make full use of UC’s facilities and maximize their stay in Coimbra.

By registering in the Welcome Centre for Visiting Researchers you will benefit from a specialized service that will help you find the solutions you need for you and your family concerning the arrival and stay at Coimbra during your research period.

In order to register you may contact the Welcome Centre directly or the Research Centre that will host you. Then you will be invited to fill an electronic application form where you will have to upload a copy of your ID card, a letter of acceptance at the University of Coimbra and a colour photo.

The registration requests made by the host research centres of UC have to be made by email to dri.cm@uc.pt and include the following data about the de visiting researchers/ scholars:

Visitor's full name
Visitor's nationality
Host Faculty/ Unit
Host Department
Host Research Centre
Host supervisor
Visitor’s email address
Visitor's foreseen dates of arrival and departure

Once registered at the Welcome Centre, the researcher can benefit from an identification card as a visiting researcher of the University of Coimbra, which will grant him/her free access to libraries, canteens with economic prices, among other facilities and services within the university.

This identification card has to be requested by the researcher at the time of registration. He/she must select that option in the list of services available and upload a colour photo.
