CEMMPRE young researcher's project funded by the “Seed Projects for Interdisciplinary Research”
In the 6th edition of the “Seed Projects Awards for Interdisciplinary Research”, the project led by researcher Fábio Ferreira was one of the winners.
This initiative by the University of Coimbra (UC) has “two main goals: to support young researchers in designing and implementing their own research projects - enhancing their scientific independence - and to foster interdisciplinary research that brings together scientists from different fields”. Since 2020, the “Seed Projects Awards for Interdisciplinary Research” have been supported 29 projects, with 20,000 euros each, corresponding to overall funding of 580,000 euros, with the support of the Santander Portugal Foundation.
In each edition, five projects have been funded, one for each of the UC's strategic areas: (i) Health; (ii) Climate, Energy and Mobility; (iii) Natural Resources, Agri-food and Environment; (iv) Digital, Industry and Space; and (v) Heritage, Culture and Inclusive Society.
The project “Design of Antimicrobial/Antiviral Coatings for Textiles used in Health Environments (SAFE-TEX)” by CEMMPRE researcher Fábio Ferreira was awarded the prize in the strategic area of Health.
