Teaching and Non-Teaching UC Staff
Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff members with Tuition Fee reduction/exemption in accordance with what is stipulated in articles 5 and 6 of the Resolution of the General Council no. 38/2011 of 15th October, amended by the Resoltution no. 86/2020 of 16th January 2020.
Exemption or Reduction of Tuition Fee amount | 1st and 2nd cycle courses

The Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff members of the University of Coimbra who attend a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Integrated Master’s Degree are granted a benefit corresponding to 25 per cent of the tuition fee’s amount established for the course they attend, to be paid by the University of Coimbra by means of the Investment Fund.

The awarding of the benefit depends on the successful academic performance (passing the curricular year), with the undermentioned exceptions:
- a) The student who benefits from the status of Student-Worker is considered to have an academic successful assessment when he/she moves up to the subsequent curricular year or obtains a successful assessment in at least half of the curricular units in which he/she is registered;
- b) The student that is registered on a part-time basis is considered to have an academic successful assessment when he/she moves up to the subsequent curricular year or obtains a successful assessment in curricular units that correspond to a minimum of 30 ECTS credits.

The Non-Teaching staff members who are bound by a part time employment contract and are registered in 1st and 2nd cycle courses do not benefit from this tuition fee system.
Exemption or Reduction of Tuition Fee amount | 3rd cycle courses

The UC Professors and Researchers who are bound by a full time employment contract are exempt from paying the tuition fee unless they benefit from a scholarship or an allowance that includes its payment.

The UC Non-Teaching Staff members (not included in number 1) who are bound by a full time employment contract are granted a benefit corresponding to 25 per cent of the tuition fee’s amount established for the course they attend, to be paid by the University of Coimbra by means of the Investment Fund.

The UC Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff members who are bound by a part-time employment contract have the right to a reduction that corresponds to the fraction referring to its type of contract in relation to the full time contract.
