Frequently Asked Questions

Which type of documents can be authenticated at this platform?
All certificates of the academic field of the UC, issued since 2015 in paper or in a digital format. For example, the Multipurpose Certificate, the Diploma concerning the Completion of a Cycle of Studies, a Student’s Academic Record, or an Acceptance Letter for the purpose of obtaining a Visa (International Student).
You are a student and need to deliver an electronic document to a certain organisation. What to do in this respect?
You can send the file by email, print it and deliver it in paper or send the alphanumeric code it contains, by providing the URL in which it can be validated: www.uc.pt/academicos/autentica.
You represent an organisation and have received a code (or file) of an electronic document issued by the UC. What to do in this respect?
You must access this Service and enter the access code you have received or that is included at the bottom of the document. This access will provide you with a copy of the document issued by the UC.
You represent an organisation and have received a document in paper. How to verify its authenticity?
The received document must contain the embossing stamp of the University over a signature and the paper must contain a watermark with the UC insignia. In order to confirm its content you must access this Service and enter the access code you have received or that is included at the bottom of the paper document. This access will provide you with a copy of the document issued by the UC, but since it was issued in paper, the file that is shown does not contain the handwritten signature.
The UC Platform indicates that the document delivered is not valid. What does that mean?
If a change in the status of a document is detected, the UC invalidates it in order to ensure its uselessness. If you have any doubt, you should contact the Academic Management Services by means of the official email address ga@uc.pt.
