PREMIERE: MAY 19
--
[in-person]
Dear mortals,
For centuries, you have been told lies about me. You have painted me as a traitor, as the cause of a war that threw a thousand ships into the sea. But the time has finally come for you to hear my side of the story.
My name is Helena. Yes, that Helen.
But I've never set foot in Troy.
In this tragicomedy, I'm finally telling you the truth: while an illusion of me was taken by Paris to Troy, I, the real Helen, was in Egypt, a prisoner of the whims of the gods and the greed of men.
Seventeen years pass, and Menelaus appears, shipwrecked on the banks of the Nile. It is in this unlikely reunion that my escape begins - not just from Egypt, but from the divine farce that condemned me.
On May 19, at 9:30 p.m., at the Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente (TAGV), in a production by the Thíasos Cultural Association, I invite you to watch my story on stage, told by me, with irony, courage and cunning. Tickets can be purchased here.
Come and laugh, but above all, listen to the voice of those who have always been silenced.
With sincerity,
