International Congress "Teaching Camões in the 21st Century"

The celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Luís de Camões have been a unique opportunity to discuss and analyse the various dimensions assumed by the figure and work of the poet in the community that welcomes him as a symbol of identity. This year's anniversary is a uniquely favourable occasion for a wide-ranging enquiry into the practices, means and purposes that govern the teaching of Camões in today's schools, but also, and perhaps above all, for defining paths and perspectives for the future. Presenting itself as a space for sharing knowledge and updating knowledge, the International Congress Teaching Camões in the 21st Century will also endeavour to be a moment when teachers, as indispensable agents of teaching and learning, can share their concerns, experiences and suggestions for school work around the work of the greatest poet in Portuguese literature.

With this in mind, the Executive Committee invites primary and secondary school teachers to become actively involved in the work of the congress by offering a series of themed workshops for short communications on specific aspects of the teaching of Camonian subjects.
