Summer Course Latin for All - Registration until July 9, 2020

Introduction

Summer time is a season for searching education within a more informal context, but it is also an opportune time to prepare for the following schoolyear.

The Course Latin for all is a response to those who wish to enrich their education by making use of the scholarly breaks, as well as those who will start their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd cycle of studies and see in this course a useful tool to get started in a field of study that is normally absent from their academic curricula.

Objectives

· Bring the Latin language to a heterogenous audience (from 14 years of age onward) that wishes to explore the mother tongue of the European common past, and facilitate the learning of European languages.

· Enable contact with Latin etymology as a key to understand language itself.

Programme:

· The Latin "case"

· Declination of nouns and adjectives

· The Latin verb: the present (indicative, infinitive, and imperative)

· Some prepositions and pronouns

· Basic vocabulary

Activities to develop during synchronous and asynchronous moments:

- Comprehensive reading

- Exploration of grammatical and lexical dynamics

- Systematisation of contents

- Individual study: platform activities

Calendar

Students may frequent only the first week (July 13-17) or both weeks (July 13-17 + July 20-24).

Activities are split between online format (5h per week, always at 14:30) and individual, interactive platform activities (around 8h per week).
