The Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies (CECH) of the University of Coimbra is proud to host the IV Student Forum of Classical and Humanistic Studies, which will take place on July 8, 2025, in Amphitheatre V (6th floor) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra.
The IV Student Forum on Classical and Humanistic Studies (SF-CHS) is organised as part of the activities of the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies (CECH), a Research & Development Unit based at FLUC. This Forum features Classical Studies, the cultural heritage of humanity, as its overarching theme. CECH works on the founding areas of Greek and Latin Studies, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, knowledge that has made it possible to naturally expand scientific work in the fields of Cultural Heritage, namely Reception Studies, Food Heritage, and the analysis of Musical Collections. Literature, Philosophy, Ancient History, and Archaeology complete the humanistic research promoted by CECH, vindicating the wise claim that nothing is alien to human beings. Interdisciplinarity is therefore a fundamental axis of the research carried out at CECH.
We are furthering the main mission of the Student Forums, which began in 2022: to provide a meeting that fosters dialogue between young researchers and students at various levels. This year's theme is "Weaving memories, (Re)creating the Classics" and we have chosen as our "representatives" Clio, muse of history and symbol of records and memory, and Virgil, the poet who narrated the Roman epic memorably. We hope that everyone may share their research so that together we can weave an event full of interdisciplinary knowledge that revives the classics.
