DIAITA: Scripta & Realia

This collection is intended to publish texts resulting from the investigation of members of the transnational project DIAITA: Lusophone Food Heritage. These are in-depth studies often involving an interdisciplinary exploration of a topic that is fundamental for devising the cultural heritage and identity that are shared by the Portuguese speaking population: history and food cultures. The research focuses on a scientific analysis of the sources, be they written, material or iconographic. Hence the series DIAITA is subtitled “Scripta” — in an allusion to the translation, study and publication of sources (either unpublished or unavailable in Portuguese, in the case of classical texts, Greek and Latin, which are seminal for the knowledge of the Mediterranean food pattern), as well as monographs. The subtitle “Realia”, on the other hand, covers publications stemming from studies on the "materialities" that make known the history and the cultures within the lusophone space.
