Since Classical Antiquity, the city and the countryside have been inspiring tópoi for poets, artists, historians, geographers, etc.
The theme of the 8th edition of the Classical Studies Symposium is ‘The city and the countryside in Classical Antiquity: representations and legacies’, and we welcome proposals for 20-minute presentations on this topic.
These may relate to various fields of the social sciences and humanities, such as literature, history, philosophy, geography and fine arts, and may extend to other chronological periods beyond Classical Antiquity, provided that this period serves as the starting point.
