The 1st Virtual Workshop on Sustainable Campus consists of a virtual workshop, open to the public, involving all higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country willing to share experiences on activities and projects under the Sustainable Campus (SC) context. The degree of involvement in CS activities varies greatly across HEI. Thus, this meeting aims to create an environment of encouragement and cooperation between HEI, where the most experienced can support those that began more recently, anticipating difficulties they have already overcome.
The aim is to convey the message "do as you preach" to HEI, with the general intention to create a basis for a national SC movement, as well as to communicate with the public in general to disseminate HEI activities, projects and results on energy use and sustainable management.
The virtual workshop format ensures two very important attributes:
it is a true workshop, for exchanging of experiences and providing contact between HEI communities and of these with the general public;
it has a minimal carbon footprint by avoiding travelling of participants to a centralized location - the workshop happens in a distributed mode across the country, although with all the spots synchronised.
This workshop will be framed under the EUSEW - European Union Sustainable Energy Week
|The Workshop will start with an invited speech by Dr. Muhammad Mazhar, of the Nottingham Trent University, one of the universities of the UK at the top of the sustainability ranking|
The distributed physical locations of the Workshop may be found here.
