Statistical offices consultation sessions
As part of the EOLinPLACE project, two consultation sessions were held on 5 and 10 September 2025, bringing together statistical offices from multiple countries. The meetings aimed to refine approaches to classifying dying places through collaborative discussion and expert feedback.
Representatives were present from Statbel (Belgium), the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the Ministère de la Santé (Luxembourg), the Department for Policy in Health (Malta), Statistics Netherlands, the Instituto Nacional de Estatística (Portugal), the Direção-Geral da Saúde (Portugal), the National Institute for Public Health (Romania), Statistics South Africa, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Statistik Austria, the Pacific Community (Marshall Islands), the Nacionalni inštitut za javno zdravje (Slovenia), and Socialstyrelsen (Sweden).
Participants from national statistical offices shared their experience in health data, mortality statistics, and demographic reporting, offering valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of integrating new classification frameworks within existing systems.
We extend our sincere thanks to all statistical officers who dedicated their time and expertise to these sessions. Their valuable contributions will help strengthen the foundation for improved global monitoring and support for comprehensive end-of-life care.
