The Bacterial Culture Collection of the University of Coimbra (UCCCB), coordinated by Prof. Dr. Paula Vasconcelos Morais (DCV), officially joined the United States Culture Collection Network (USCCN) registry on June 17, the public registry of microbial collections in the USA. This is a searchable resource that helps researchers, industry partners, and collections managers connect and collaborate.

The U.S. Culture Collection Network brings together scientists who work with microbial collections in the laboratory. Its mission is to facilitate the safe and responsible use of microbial resources for research, education, industry, medicine, and agriculture by providing opportunities for U.S. culture collections workers to network with each other and the broader culture collections community.

With this membership, the UCCCB hopes to increase its visibility, establish connections with other collections and industry leaders, be part of a Census of Microbes documenting the diversity and scope of microbial collections, and support research and innovation for the development of new microbial-based solutions.
