How to Explain a Project Without Technical Terms?
Catarina Ferrão was the first PhD student to accept the PubhD challenge during the special EC2U session. She is a doctoral student in Geography and is conducting her research at CEGOT – the Centre for Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning. On this evening, she presented her project *“The Invisible We Breathe: Between Perception and Reality!”
Why did you decide to participate in PubhD Coimbra?
I decided to participate because I thought it was a great initiative, even for presentation practice. We're usually used to using more technical terms in formal presentations, and I saw this as an opportunity to be more informal and step away from that seriousness. I think it’s great practice—talking to “normal” people and trying to explain our project without relying on all those technical terms.
How was your experience in this edition of PubhD Coimbra?
It was better than I expected! We had a lot of audience participation, which was good. Getting questions is good because it gives us the chance to go speak more than just explaining with a whiteboard.
Would you recommend other colleagues to participate?
Yes, of course, I think it’s a great opportunity for everyone.
