Motivated to Bring PubhD to All Colleagues and to Bring More Colleagues to PubhD
João Ferreira, a PhD student in Health Sciences, opened the January session of PubhD Coimbra. His research is at CIBB - Center for Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology, under the project “Reframing Mental Health: A New Perspective.”
Why did you decide to participate in PubhD Coimbra?
To be honest, it was really because of the sense of Academia, and precisely because I live and breathe this academic spirit—it’s like a little bug that spreads. Through NEDUC, I had colleagues who participated in PubhD, and since I was involved in NEDUC, was part of its list, and managed the FMUC portfolio, I found it interesting and felt it was something I should try in order to bring this experience to my colleagues. I thought it was amazing. NEDUC exists, but this is the first year we have someone from FMUC, so it was a way of expanding our presence—each person has a role, an ambassador for FMUC, one for the Faculty of Law, one for the Faculty of Science. And I believe this is truly a perfect fit for FMUC. It’s extremely relevant, and I see it as a way to integrate this into FMUC so that these four years are worthwhile, make a difference, and turn this into a lasting practice within FMUC’s logistics. Hopefully, it will become a tradition that encourages more colleagues to participate because this is truly a great exercise and training opportunity.
Would you advise other colleagues to participate?
That’s the idea! They infected me with the virus, and the goal is to infect FMUC with this virus—a good virus, the virus of sharing Science. It was amazing, a real adventure—thank you!
