The Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory has a museum collection consisting of a large number of instruments for astronomical and geophysical observation and measurement. It also has in its collection maps and celestial charts. Most of the collection consists of instruments from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The information available in the OGAUC data base (in portuguese only) constitutes a prototype of the general inventory of the Observatory's museum collection, divided into four sections: Instruments, (old) books, documents and furniture.
This internal working document is provided only for illustrative purposes, it does not constitute the final product. Among other improvements, the Collection will be sorted by types and links will be established between subjects. Although the photographs are intended for inventory purposes, without any artistic intention, the need to remake many of them is also recognized.
