How to get there
The Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory of the University of Coimbra, is located on the outskirts of the city of Coimbra, on the left bank of the Mondego River, in the old parish of Santa Clara (place of Almas de Freire).
By car: Coming by the A1 highway (from North or South) exit at "Coimbra-Sul". Just after the toll turn right onto the expressway and after 5 km (approximately) take the N1 towards Lisboa (do not follow the direction "Coimbra Centro"). The N1 will exit at the roundabout of Portugal dos Pequenitos, follow in the direction of the "Hospital dos Covões" (a road to climb). The Observatory is on the face of this road, under the right hand side, approximately 1.5 km from this roundabout.
By train: Get off at Coimbra B. Then take a train that connects to the city Coimbra station (center of Coimbra). In front of the station take bus no. 6. The trip takes approximately 15 minutes and costs 1.60€. The frequency of this bus is on average 20 minutes.
The direct taxi ride from Coimbra B station to the Observatory takes approximately 10 minutes and costs around 5€.
