Studying at the University of Coimbra: how a dream came true

Cristina Zhou

The words of Fernando Pessoa were the inspiration for Cristina Zhou's fascination with the Portuguese language and culture and for her dream of studying in Portugal. This dream came in 2008, when Cristina arrived at the University of Coimbra (UC). Here, she completed her Master's and PhD and never left research behind. As part of a process of intercultural sharing, she is the executive director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Coimbra and develops a dialogue between China, the country where she was born, and Portugal, seeking to establish free communication without barriers between different cultures.
