Copies of Cardinal Saraiva's mail correspondence are back to the University of Coimbra. The two manuscript volumes were acquired in a joint effort of the UC Archive, Press, General Library and the Rectory. Copies of correspondence are "records that were made of the correspondence that was sent out", says Ana Maria Bandeira, from the Coimbra University Archive (AUC). When sending mail, the sender usually "lost it if he didn't make a copy or if there was no copier". This was "a way of keeping the information in the original place from where it came".cardeal
