The Clinical Analysis Laboratory of the University of Coimbra (LACUC) has reopened with all its services, available to the academic community and general population, including a wing for medical and support services. LACUC is located in Campus 1 (Pólo I), in the building of the Faculty of Medicine.

The project “VIBSonCANCER – Molecular Cancer Diagnostics by Vibrational Spectroscopy”, developed by a multidisciplinary team from the University of Coimbra (UC) has proved that the use of vibrational spectroscopy methods, which are non-invasive and highly sensitive techniques, are effective in the early detection of cancer. | |

The research project “TypoMetaLing: Effect of linguistic experience on metacognition in language tasks and transfer to non-linguistic behavior” aims to unveil how the knowledge and use of different languages affect decision-making in political, social and economic domains. | |
| Scientists from the University of Coimbra create superinsulation material made of recycled tyre rubber. The research team has created an aerogel with a homogeneous matrix of silica and rubber, resulting in a new ecological and more economical super-insulating material, responding to the challenge of creating a new type of thermal and acoustic insulation for buildings. | |
| An exhibition with 55 objects regarding the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra may be visited until February 23, 2023, at the Machado de Castro National Museum. Sketches, botanical models, herbarium items, books, as well as part of the unpublished drawings discovered in the Department of Life Sciences are being displayed for the first time. | |
| Neuroscientists meet in Coimbra to discuss functioning of the brain. The 8th European Synapse Meeting will be held in Coimbra on the 20th and 21st of October 2022, bringing together neuroscientists from several countries, within and outside the European Union, who study synapses (the communication between neurons). |
