| Researchers of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the UC and the Research Centre in Chemistry of the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto optimized antioxidants present in food so that they are able to act in the production of cell energy. The new molecules obtained prevent and minimize damage resulting from oxidative stress, which often results in cell death. |
| The Academic Orchestra of the University of Coimbra came to life yesterday, as a result of a partnership between the UC and the Tuna Académica da UC. The activities of the new orchestra will start in September with an intensive internship and the performance of an opening concert taking place on 18 September. |
| Filipe Caseiro Alves, Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine was awarded a medal by the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology. Caseiro Alves is the first Portuguese to receive this prestigious distinction. |
| UC students have received a total of 8 medals at the 7th World University Canoe Sprint Championship : 2 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze. A total of 162 athletes participated in this competition from the 7th to the 10th of June, at the Centro de Alto Rendimento de Montemor-o-Velho. |

| The ambassador and ambassadress to the USA will be at FEUC, on June 24, to promote entrepreneurship amongst women. The "Workshops for Women Entrepreneurs" are aimed at businesswomen and female students. Registrations until June 17. |
