| A team of 15 Portuguese and French researchers have discovered how to eliminate the first symptoms of the Alzheimer disease in animal models. The unprecedented study is coordinated by Rodrigo Cunha, of the Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. |
We are celebrating the third anniversary of the inscription of the UC, Alta and Sofia as UNESCO World Heritage. We want everyone to take part in this celebration, so we have several activities scheduled: For starters, the reissue of the book "The secret of Coimbra", by Étienne Schréder was launched yesterday. The exhibition about this work can be visited until 2 October. During the weekend come celebrate with us the Sounds of the City | Sons da Cidade throughout the whole city. Concerts, performances, theatre and a lot more until 4 July. Get to know the event program here. The celebrations also take place at the Science Museum with the Extreme Night | Noite Extrema. On Saturday evening the Museum doors will open and the Popular Saints' Festivals get the party started at the Alta of Coimbra. |
| The Faculty of Economics will host the 10th Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Economic Journal from 1 to 3 July. The conference will have as speaker Pedro Carneiro, from University College London. |
| From 11 to July 15 the UC Tourism will host the "UC of the Little Ones," (UC dos Pequeninos), a summer program to discover the University of Coimbra. The activities are aimed at children from 6 to 12 years old, and registrations are open until July 1st. Relatives of UC employees have priority in the enrollment. |
| The RedEmprendia BoosterWE program supports the creation of new companies by university members from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Participants may be awarded a grant of up to EUR6,000 for travel expenses, accomodation and insurance. There are 112 vacancies available and applications will end on 15 July. |
