A study conducted by scientists of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), the Faculty of Medicine of the UC and MIT has shown that the regular consumption of caffeine reduces fear, allowing the development of new therapeutic approaches concerning phobias and depression.
The UC Students participating in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro already have a mascot. Zeca was designed by the children of the SASUC pre-school and is the result of their research on the Olympics, Rio de Janeiro and particularly on the UC spaces. Good luck to Francisca Laia, Irina Rodrigues and Diogo Carvalho!
The mascot was delivered during the reopening of the University Stadium Sports Hall1 with the presence of Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, Minister of Education. The renovation work carried out in the Sports Hall made it possible to improve an important structure of the sports complex which will receive the European University Games in 2018.
Many top-level athletes who will participate in the Olympic Games have been training at the UC. Ricardo Ribas, Dulce Féliz, Ana Cabecinha, Jéssica Augusto, Salomé Rocha, Sara Moreira and Nelson Oliveira have completed the evaluation and preparation training which simulates Rio de Janeiro's environmental conditions.
