Uma equipa de investigadores do Instituto de Telecomunicações da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra desenvolveu uma tecnologia capaz de avaliar em tempo real a capacidade de leitura em voz alta das crianças do primeiro ciclo do Ensino Básico. A tecnologia LetsRead foi desenvolvida em parceria com a Microsoft.

A team of researchers of the Institute of Telecommunications of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra has developed a technology able to assess in real time children's ability to read aloud in elementary school. The LetsRead technology was developed in partnership with Microsoft.

We continue to receive new students arriving at the UC and there are numerous activities. Next Tuesday, September 20, we welcome freshmen with sport. The initiative "Sport at the Academy" will be held at the University Stadium, between 3 and 8 pm, and the program includes informal competitions of Futsal, Street Handball, 3x3 Basketball, drones demos and showcooking.

On the 23rd, the debate "Coimbra, a Civic University of the 21st century", organized by the General Council, will be held at Sala do Carvão, Casa das Caldeiras, and is open to the general public, with free admission.

We remind everyone that submission of projects to the 19th Cultural Week is open until September 26, (form available here). "Who are we?" is the theme of the next edition of the Cultural Week which takes place from March 1 to May 1, 2017.

Applicatioins to the University of Coimbra Award 2017 are open until the 25th Novermber. The EUR25,000 prize distinguishes every year a Portuguese personality who has stood out due to a particularly relevant and innovative intervention in the areas of culture or science. Any institution or person of Portuguese nationality may apply.
