Tomorrow, the "Sala do Carvão" of the Boiler House (Casa das Caldeiras) will host the session "Which future for the University, which University for the future: contributions to a necessary debate". The event is organised by the General Council of the UC and the entrance is free and open to the public.

The opening concert of the celebrations of the composer Manuel Faria's birth centenary, which will take place tomorrow at the church of St Francis Convent, at 9:30 pm. The show will gather more than 150 people on stage and will be directed by the musician and conductor Paulo Bernardino, in an absolute premiere of the author's pieces. 

The 22nd edition of the "Caminhos do Cinema Português" will take place from the 19th to the 26th November. Check the schedule of the only film festival dedicated to all Portuguese cinema. 

On the 19th, at 9:30 pm don't miss the colloquium "Memory Dialogues" (Diálogos de Memória), at Sala do Carvão of the Boiler House (Casa das Caldeiras). The event is held in the framework of the 16th GEFAC Cultural Days Programme, dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of this autonomous body of the Students' Union (AAC), taking place until the 3rd December. 

Do you have spectacles which you no longer use? From now on you can give them a solidary destination by depositing them in one of the collection containers available at the UC (at the Health and Work Safety Management Services, located on the 2nd floor of the Faculty of Medicine, at Polo I, or at the buffet of the Polo II canteens).

The Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the University and Coimbra and IBILI are promoting a series of initiatives in the framework of the 2016 Science and Technology Week, from November 18 to December 2. Registration for the activities can be made through the e-mail scicomm@cnc.uc.pt.

The Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the UC (FCTUC) will host the 6th edition of the Hilti Engineering Challenge on the 23rd and 34th November. The event aims to challenge all Civil Engineering finalist students to apply their knowledge and competences in a practical case, with resistance tests in a laboratory environment.

Registrations for the 6th edition of the Encontro de Instituições e Unidades de e-Learning do Ensino Superior (Meeting of Institutions and e-Learning Units of Higher Education) are open until the 8th December. The event will take place on the 16th December at the Laginha Auditorium, Polo II.

Do you already know Missão País?  It is a Catholic university volunteer project, in which students can volunteer in communities in different parts of the country, between 5 and 11 February 2017. You may attend one of the several information sessions which will take place. The first session will be on November 21, at Instituto Universitário Justiça e Paz, at 9:15 pm.
