Issue 182
20th February 2020
The 22nd UC Cultural Week kicks off on March 1 with shows, installations, workshops and exhibitions. Until 15 March, the city will have even more cultural offer. 32.9% of parents misinterpret their children's weight (30.6% underestimate and 2.3% overestimate), practically one in three, reveals a study published in the "American Journal of Human Biology". Conducted by Daniela Rodrigues, Aristides Machado-Rodrigues and Cristina Padez, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), the study had two main objectives: to analyze the agreement between the children's nutritional status and the perception that parents have about their weight; and observe whether underestimation of weight was in any way associated with the risk of the child being overweight / obese.
The Health Services of the University of Coimbra will promote a personal and academic coaching programme - Personal Wellness - with the purpose of providing the student community with skills in the field of self-knowledge, emotional regulation, problem solving and conflict management. The group training sessions will take place on February 27, 5, 12 and 19 March, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, at the Health Services facilities, Faculty of Medicine (Campus I), 2nd floor. Participants are then invited to an individual session on a date to be scheduled. Participation is free. Interested parties should send an e-mail, until February 21st, to gabadmin@sas.uc.pt, mentioning their name, Faculty and Course, year and contact (mobile phone). The Social Services of the University of Coimbra (SASUC), together with the Integration and Counseling Centre, are promoting UC Skills courses in conjunction with the Students' nuclei. The training is aimed at all students of the University of Coimbra and aims to develop psychosocial and communication skills, in order to improve study performance and academic performance.
