Today, at 4:00 p.m., the Auditorium of the Rectory of the University of Coimbra hosts the debate about the foundational management of universities in a global perspective, aimed at the entire academic community. On the 23rd, also at 4 pm, another debate will also take place about the same topic applied  to the University of Coimbra.

Tomorrow is International Museum Day. Throughout the day, the Museum of Science offers free visits to its magnificent rooms and galleries. On Friday, starting at 9:00 pm, the celebration returns to mark the Night of the Museums. You will be able to discover the networks that connect the objects of the Museum's collections, take part in astronomical observations and, at 10:00 pm, watch the play "The Two Faces of Hecuba" by Eurípedes, by the Thiasos Group. All these activities are part of the Coimbra Museum Network Programme that proposes multiple initiatives in various spaces of the city. Check the full programme here (18 May) and here (19 May)
You may also visit Paço das Escolas, between 8 and 11 pm, an initiative promoted by the Tourism of the UC. Admission is free and will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and conditioned to the number of seats available).

Adelino Duarte Gomes, professor of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the UC, will teach his Last Lesson tomorrow at 4:15 p.m. The ceremony, which takes place at the auditorium of FPCEUC, begins at 3:30 pm with testimonies about the work developed in the four fields of the academic career of Duarte Gomes.

The Social Services of the University of Coimbra (SASUC) join the celebrations of Africa Day with the Lusophone Gastronomic Week "Flavours of Africa", which will take place from May 21 to 25 in Cafeteria A. There will be many delicacies to taste, such as Dried Meat Calulu, chicken "moqueca" among others. On the 24th, at 5 p.m., Dom Dinis Cultural Centre hosts the lecture "O Reino do Congo e Evangelização e Escravatura", starting at 5pm.

The recipe dates back to 1902 but the product could not be more contemporaneous: the Academic Cookies, which will be presented on May 22 at the General Library of the UC in the framework of the workshop “Patrimónios Alimentares: Investigação Aplicada e Transferência de Conhecimento” The biscuits were developed in a collaborative project regime between the Doctoral Programme in FoodHeritage and Vasco da Gama bakeries. 

Social responsibility in higher education institutions will be under debate at the University of Coimbra. The session will take place on May 22, at 11 am, at the Science Museum. At the same time the Green Paper on Social Responsibility and Higher Education Institutions will be presented, resulting from the work carried out by the ORSIES - Social Responsibility Observatory of Higher Education Institutions. Woodpecker is a prevention warning system to populations in emergency situations. Developed by a team of 10 technology engineers from Coimbra WIT Software, it can be applied in various emergency situations, such as floods, earthquakes, as well as wildfires.

Would you like to study at a Chinese university? Applications for two China Three Gorges scholarships are open until May 30. The scholarships, worth 25,000 euros each, will allow two Portuguese students, who have concluded their studies in the UC this year, to take master's degrees in China.
