The European Universities Games (EUG 2018) are about to start. From 15 to 28 July Coimbra will receive 4,000 athletes from 40 countries and 300 universities, with the support of 1,000 volunteers in the largest multi-sport event ever held in Portugal. You can follow everything at eug.com.

The renewed Jorge Anjinho Sports Hall was presented this week. Located in the city centre, it will host the table tenis and futsal competitions.

Videomapping is back to the UC! From 16 to 21 July in the Pátio das Escolas of the University of Coimbra. There will be two sessions every night at 10 and 11 pm. Tickets for sale at Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente and at tagv.bol.pt.

The University of Coimbra was distinguished as one of the best Higher Education institutions in Europe in the first edition of the University Teaching Rankings, the latest initiative of Times Higher Education (THE). In this first edition, and according to THE, the UC is "among the best European universities for the excellence in teaching", listed in the top 125.

INOV C 2020 was presented in a session that included the launch of the 26 innovative projects promoted by the consortium.  INOV C has already created 38 companies, 17 spin-off companies and has submitted 53 patents or patent applications.

The programme of night visits to the University of Coimbra, "UC By Night", returns on July 28 and lasts until September 8. Every Saturday, at 9:15 pm, the UC opens its doors to the public for a different visit. 

Applications for the 3rd edition of the Santander University Volunteer Award are now open. Registrations will take place from July 5 to October 13, 2018. In addition to the financial support of € 3,000, the three winning projects will have six months of strategic mentorship by a senior director of Banco Santander Totta.
