Next Tuesday the Sala dos Atos Grandes will receive the Honoris Causa Ceremony of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi. The session begins at 10:30 am and will be broadcast live at uc.pt.


Until the end of September the UC tower has a new special flag which promotes awareness for child cancer.


Another edition of the European Researchers' Night is back this year with the theme "Science in the City". The Science Museum will host exhibitions, astronomical observations, speed datings with scientists, experiments, among others. At 9 p.m. Rómulo Centro Ciência Viva of the UC promotes a debate with the theme "Preservation of Cultural Heritage". In the Botanical Garden activities will take place around the Greenhouse, with visits and meetings with scientists and a concert at 7:00 pm.

The international congress "José Saramago: 20 Years with the Nobel Prize" is almost here. The 2-day event starts on 8 October, exactly on the day the author was awarded the Nobel Prize. 

From 10 to 12 October the University of Coimbra receives the 13th Congress of the International Association of Cities and entities of the Enlightenment (AiCEi). There will be three days with conferences, guided tours, exhibitions and a concert.


On Saturday, do not miss another family movie session at TAGV with "50 Years of Yellow Submarine," by George Dunning, at 11.30 a.m.

Opera is back to the Schools' Courtyard on the 29th September at 9:30 pm with "Samson and Delilah". You may  pick up your free ticket at TAGV.


The UC General Council held its third 2018 meeting this week, where the security of the UC heritage was one of the main subjects of the agenda. The General Council will promote a conference dedicated to the government and organisation of Higher Education Institutions, to be held on October 12 at Paulo Quintela Theatre.
