The University of Coimbra will undergo an enormous renovation work in the Paço das Escolas, after having ensured an important financial boost to protect and renovate the most emblematic spaces. The application, aimed at the recovery of the Capelos Hall, the Royal Palace and the College of Arts, was approved to receive three million euros under the Center 2020 program.

“Ensino Superior: Governo e Organização”  (Higher Education: Government and Organisation) is the theme of the conference promoted by the General Council of the UC on the 12 October, at Theatre Paulo Quintela. The debate will be attended by Luke Georghiu, Vice-Rector of the University of Manchester. The event will be broadcast live at uc.pt.

Tomorow the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the UC celebrates its 246th anniversary starting at 2 pm at the Central Building, Campus 2. On Monday the 16th it is time for the Faculty of Medicine to celebrate its anniversary starting at 10:45 am at Campus 3. 

From October 17 to 25, SASUC promotes another edition of "UC Skills", a free training programme for UC students that aims to develop psychosocial and communication skills to improve study skills and academic performance.

Applications for master's and doctoral degrees scholarships are open until 9 November, under the agreement between the University of Coimbra and the Macao Foundation. 

The UC Sports Office provides a range of sports activities to the academic community to promote physical activity, including: canoeing, personal defense and physical fitness.

The exhibition “Fiori nel Mare”, by Bruna Esposito, will be launched this Saturday at Colégio das Artes (College of the Arts) and can be visited until 25 October from 10 am to 11 pm. 

On the 18 October, Dom Dinis Cultural Centre will host the dinner-meeting “As Repúblicas têm futuro em Coimbra?”. 

This weekend the Convento de São Francisco will host the closing concert “In memoriam de António Fragoso". Pedro Neves will conduct the Ensemble MPMP and soloists Tamila Kharambura (violin) and Inês Andrade (piano)
