Peer Tutoring at UC
Who is It For?
Tutors:
Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students of the University of Coimbra, with the exception of first-year undergraduate students, who wish to provide tutoring support to their peers.
Tutees:
Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students of the University of Coimbra who require academic support and guidance across different subjects and/or specific course units, provided by a tutor, and, in specific cases, Portuguese language support (for those with language difficulties), provided by a lecturer.
Objectives

To prepare and support Tutors in assisting other students, balancing academic support with mental well-being;

To promote academic success and prevent student drop-out;

To foster cooperation, sharing, and collaboration within the academic community.
How Can I Be Recognised?
Student Tutors may receive a Certificate of Participation and have their participation recorded in the Diploma Supplement, provided they meet the following three conditions:
1) Attend at least one tutor training programme, with full participation in all modules;
2) Provide support to at least one tutee, with a minimum of six (6) sessions (1 hour each) during the tutoring period;
3) Be present at monitoring moments and complete the proposed satisfaction questionnaires throughout the tutoring process.
Student Tutees may receive a Certificate of Participation if they receive support from at least one Tutor, with a minimum of six (6) sessions (1 hour each) during the tutoring period.
