Carlos Ascenso André - D. Diniz Award 2024

We congratulate CECH Integrated Researcher Carlos Ascenso André on being awarded the 2024 D. Diniz Prize (Fundação Casa de Mateus).

Established in 1980, the prize is awarded annually to a work of poetry, essay, or fiction, or to a Portuguese translation of a significant literary work.

Carlos Ascenso André, who has published dozens of books throughout a career devoted to the study and translation of Latin literature, receives the prize for his work The Art of Love (Ars amatoria) by Ovid, published by Quetzal — a distinction that elevates the Portuguese translation, presented alongside the original text, to the level of recognition as a literary genre in its own right.
