Visiting Professors in the Humanities (CGF) - Edition of 2025
It is with great pleasure that we announce the results of the second edition of the Call for applications for Gulbenkian Visiting Professorships in the Humanities. This bid is meant to support applications to host Visiting Professors from international universities with a highly meritorious scientific curriculum and a notable reputation in the area of Humanities.
This edition was highly competitive, having awarded 5 professorships on a national level, out of a total of 56 applications (having, thus, a success rate of 8,9%).
With this in mind, we highlight the success of the applications endorsed by the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies. With the support of our integrated researchers, we managed to secure three applications (60% of all selected applications) of three highly prestigious Visiting Professors. Their stay will greatly enrich both our Centre and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities during the coming 12 months:

With these visits, in addition to that of Professor Irad Malkin, – which fruitfully took place last year – CECH is consolidating its internationalisation and demonstrating its appeal and capacity to host researchers by bringing them into contact with some of the best international research in the Humanities.
Therefore, your participation in the activities that will take place over the next 12 months is encouraged, not only so that the Visiting Professors may enjoy the best possible, but also so that contact with their research can enrich us all.
On the webpage dedicated to these professorships, you may find information detailing the profiles of each Visiting Professor that we will host. Soon, you will receive a detailed calendar containing the activities of the first of these guests, Professor Klaus Vieweg.
