PhD in Geology - UTAD
This postgraduate course is an advanced distance learning research and training program offered by the Autonomous University of Lisbon and the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, with CGeo.
The general objective of the programme, anchored in the interface between the geosciences and the humanities, is the study of material evidence of human behaviour over time, including human adaptations to changes in the Quaternary and the construction of cultural landscapes around the patrimonialization of the products of ancient technologies. The program values comparative studies, articulated with CGeo projects, as well as with UNESCO.
The PhD in Geology is a doctoral program offered by the Department of Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Coimbra.
This postgraduate course aims to provide doctoral students, both national and foreign, with a solid institutional, methodological and advanced scientific training framework, capable of enabling them to carry out quality scientific work and integrate them into international knowledge networks in the fields of geosciences. The doctor in Geology will be able to carry out independent scientific research, management, design, prospecting and planning activities in public or private organizations. Doctorates receive training in soft and technical skills, and are prepared to develop a career plan.
The PhD in Geology at UTAD aims to provide a solid institutional, methodological and advanced scientific training framework in Geology. It operates in 6 academic semesters, 180 ECTS, with the curricular part in tutorial and e-learning regime. This postgraduate course aims to enable students to work in the exploration and exploitation of geological resources, in regional/national or international management, administration or government bodies. They will also be trained to work in scientific research, dissemination and outreach positions.
