Researchers Veronica Ferreira and Sónia Serra, from the Department of Life Sciences and MARE, participated in this episode, which emphasizes the crucial role of riparian vegetation for the animal species within this ecosystem.
In the episode aired on 31 May 2025, the program BIOSFERA highlighted the 1st São Pedro do Sul Bioblitz, a citizen science initiative focused on the biodiversity of Ribeira da Vagem — a small tributary of the Sul River that runs through the village of Aveloso.
This biodiversity marathon provided a unique opportunity to explore and appreciate the natural richness of the Lafões region.
