European Liberal Arts Networks (ELAN)
https://www.kunst.uni-heidelberg.de/de/studium/im-studium/studium-international/elan
The European Liberal Arts Network (ELAN) is study and research association that brings together Faculties of Arts and Humanities from a group of leading European Universities, where FLUC students can complete one semester or academic year.
Official website: European Liberal Arts Network
The ELAN network’s objective is to promote international and interdisciplinary exchange between students and teachers in the field of Humanities, as well as to encourage closer collaboration in research and teaching between academic subjects and institutions.
FLUC students in their final years of undergraduate or postgraduate studies, who have an interdisciplinary background in Liberal Arts and a grade average of 15 or above, can apply to one of the partner universities (above), where they can complete between one semester and one academic year.
ELAN mobility requires the presentation of a small individual interdisciplinary research project, to be developed during or after the mobility period.
The ELAN Certificate, which specifies the student's experience within the network, is added to the UC Diploma and serves as a seal of quality, thus adding value to the student’s academic experience.
Students interested in adding an interdisciplinary and international component to their academic curriculum must pre-apply to the ELAN programme by 20 October of each academic year.
The intention to apply should be communicated to the coordinator by email or in-person:
Maria José Canelo, PhD (Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures)
Email: mcanelo@uc.pt
Appointments by email
Once the ranked shortlisting is done, students:
- Are referred to the ERASMUS mobility scholarship pre-application (deadline can be consulted on the International Relations Unit website).
- Receive the ELAN application form from their local coordinator. At this stage of the application, students must already have their project outline written in English and they must also be prepared to choose 3 universities from the list of partner institutions.
