| UC Biomed launched in 2023. The Building will accommodate scientific research labs and MIA – Portugal (Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing). UC Biomed will be located in the Health Sciences Campus of the University of Coimbra. | |
| UC Doctoral Schools have been presented to the community. UC DSs are aligned with the Institution’s five strategic areas. According to Vice-Rector Claudia Cavadas, "the main goals are to enhance the UC capacity to provide doctoral students with excellent scientific training”. For the UC Rector, Amilcar Falcão, the key words of DSs are "attractiveness, mobility and research". | |
| A new international study led by researcher Eric Font, from the University of Coimbra (UC), confirms the thesis that giant volcanic eruptions contributed to the mass extinction of dinosaurs. The study has just been published in the prestigious scientific journal "Geology", aiming at reopening the debate within the scientific community. | |
| Registrations are open for the international conference "The Brave New World 2021". This online international conference takes place during three days (17-19 November), and is organised by the STEHM Brazil Consortium and the University of Coimbra, in partnership with several international entities. The target audience includes Higher Education faculty from all over the world". | |
