The UNESCO Chair in Biodiversity and Conservation for Sustainable Development of the University of Coimbra has been extended for another four years. The extending of this platform, awarded to UC in 2013, was recently announced by UNESCO. José Pedro Paiva, Full Professor at FLUC, is the winner of the 2018 edition of the World Christianities Essay Prize, awarded by The Journal of Ecclesiastical History, one of the most prestigious scientific publications on religious history, published by Cambridge University Press. Applications for the 2019 edition of the University of Coimbra Award are open until 23 November 23. The 25,000 euros prize distinguishes annually a Portuguese personality who has stood out in the areas of culture or science. “Ensino Superior: Governo e Organização” (Higher Education: Government and Organisation) is the theme of the conference promoted by the General Council of the UC on the 12 October, at Theatre Paulo Quintela. The debate will be attended by well-known national and international speakers such as Luke Georghiu, Vice-Rector of the University of Manchester. Next Thursday, 11 October, the 2nd Meeting of "Tunas" (Academic music groups) will take place at Centro Cultural D. Dinis. The event aims to gather food supplies for the needy population in Coimbra.
