The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, will be awarded the honorary Doctorate degree by the University of Coimbra next Tuesday, October 31, at the Room of the Great Acts (Sala dos Capelos), at 11 am. The ceremony will be followed by a debate at the Gil Vicente Academic Theater at 3:30 p.m. The President of the European Commission and the Prime Minister of Portugal will address the theme "The Future of Europe - what Europe do we want?". Free entrance.

Colegio da Trindade - House of Jurisprudence has been inaugurated, marking the end of the last dilapidated building in the university Alta. Watch the news report and get to know a little about the great history of this building.

The "Worlds and Funds Days - Methodological and Interpretive Worlds of Music Funds"(Jornadas Mundos e Fundos - Mundos Metodológico e Interpretativo dos Fundos Musicais) start today. On Friday, at 9.30 pm and on Saturday at 6.30 pm, we will be able to listen to pieces of the incredible musical heritage of the University of Coimbra at St. Michael's Chapel.

The 27th edition of  "Festuna - Coimbra International Festival of Academic Music Groups (Tunas) starts tomorrow. A serenade will take place on Friday night at the Pátio das Escolas, and on Saturday everyone is invited to  the Festival Night, at 9pm, at TAGV. A part of the tickets revenue will be granted to the Portuguese Firefighters League.

Applications for the Santander Universities Volunteer Award are open until tomorrow. The award will distinguish 10 final projects of excellence and will reward three projects with a money prize of EUR3,000.

Conceição Marques is the new SASUC Administrator. The inauguration takes place on Monday, at 12 p.m in the Senate Room. The new SASUC Administrator  thus succeeds Regina Bento, who now takes office in the City Hall. 

On the 31st October, the São Francisco Convent will host the solidarity concert "É preciso Acreditar", which aims to support the victims of the recent wildfires. Artists such  Rui Veloso, José Cid, António Zambujo, Amor Electro, André Sardet, João Só, João Pedro Pais, among many others will be on stage. Tickets are on sale at Bol.pt, Fnac, Worten and CTT. The funds raised will be delivered to Cáritas Coimbra.

The Social Services of the University of Coimbra (SASUC) provide specialized medical and psychological support to UC students who have been affected by the wildfires catastrophe. To get this support students should contact the Health and Safety Management Services by phone (239240845/939855967), e-mail (gabadmin@sas.uc.pt) or in person, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on the 2nd. floor of the Faculty of Medicine (Campus I).

The vegetarian meal option is now available in all UC canteens, with no prior reservation required.

Registrations for the Coimbra University Radio courses are open until November 10 in the areas of radio voice-over, directing, broadcasting and information techniques. The training aims at integrating new broadcasters, journalists and broadcasting technicians into the team , regardless of their educational or professional backgrounds.
