At the University of Coimbra (UC), teaching and research are closely linked, and simultaneously the University promotes excellence in both areas. This is demonstrated by the volume of our scientific publications, innovation and discoveries in many scientific fields. The numerous national and international distinctions gained by our teaching and research staff attest to the wide recognition of this fact.
UC has 45 centres of pure and applied research that are responsible for the transfer of knowledge to the entrepreneurial world and to society at large.
A number of these centres are leaders in their areas – examples include:
