UC research team creates edible packaging from agri-food industry waste. These packages are biodegradable films obtained from the waste of different foods, namely potato and quince peelings. “Digital Intelligence for Sustainability”: new course with modules provided by “Microsoft Learn for Institutions” available at the UC. The course promotes "success skills" oriented towards people and sustainable development. It is a very innovative course and a unique opportunity to enhance the curriculum for UC students, with the possibility of combining training in digital and soft skills and allowing the development of a practical project. The Botanical Garden of the UC participates in a national tree planting action. Tomorrow, the 30th, a black oak tree will be planted in the Júlio Henriques Terrace, the first of this species to integrate the Garden's collection. Australian insect drastically reduces the invasive potential of Acacia Longifolia in Portugal. The biological control agent, a small Australian gall-forming wasp, has been released at 61 sites along the Portuguese coast to control the spread of this acacia species.
