Luís Miguel Cândido Dias licenciou-se em Eng. Informática pela Fac. Ciências e Tecnologia da Univ. Coimbra em 1992 e obteve o Doutoramento em Organização e Gestão de Empresas (especialidade de Ciências dos Sistemas nas Organizações) pela Universidade de Coimbra em 2001. Realizou na mesma universidade Provas de Agregação em Gestão - Ciência Aplicada à Decisão em 2013. Actualmente é Professor Catedrático da FEUC (Fac. Economia da Univ. Coimbra), no núcleo de Métodos Científicos de Gestão. Tem leccionado diversas disciplinas nas áreas da decisão, investigação operacional e informática. Os seus interesses de investigação centram-se na análise de decisão multicritério, na avaliação de desempenho, na decisão em grupo e negociação, nos sistemas de apoio à decisão e em aplicações na área da energia e do ambiente.
Atualmente Diretor do CeBER - Centre for Business and Economics Research, membro da Comissão de Coordenação e Gestão da iniciativa "Energia para a Sustentabilidade" da Universidade de Coimbra, Presidente da Mesa da Assembleia Geral da APDIO (Associação Portuguesa de Investigação Operacional), e membro dos comités editoriais das revistas Omega - The International Journal of Management Science, EURO Journal on Decision Processes e Journal of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis. Tem colaborado como avaliador para diferentes agências de financiamento (Academy of Finland, Cyprus’s Research Promotion Foundation, Dutch Research Council NWO, Poland's National Science Centre, Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia) e em provas de doutoramento (Univ. of Adelaide, Australia; Aalto Univ. and Univ. of Jyväskylä, Finland; Univ. Lisbon and Porto, Portugal; Univ. du Luxembourg; Univ. Politec. Madrid and Univ. Rovira i Virgili, Spain; Univ. Vienna, Austria; Univ Warwick, UK).
